Recipe

I saw Paula Deen make this recipe on her show and thought my stamping customers and downline would like it - and they really did. How can it be bad with two sticks of butter and cream cheese?

TOFFEE GOOEY BUTTER CAKE

Cake:
Vegetable oil cooking spray
yellow cake mix
1 large egg
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted

Filling:
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 large eggs
1 t. vanilla
1 (1 pound) box confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
1 cup toffee bits

Preheat the oven to 350. Spray a 9 x 13 baking pan with cooking spray.

With electric mixer, mix well the cake mix, egg and butter. Pat evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan and set aside.

In a bowl, mix together the cream cheese, eggs, vanilla, confectioners' sugar and butter. Beat on medium speed until smooth. Fold in the toffee bits with the spatula.

Pour the filling over the cake mixture and spread it evenly. Bake until the center is just a little bit gooey, about 40-50 minutes. Allow to cool completely before cutting.

It is rich! I'd rather have something choc. but everybody seemed to really like this and it's so easy. Glad you did! It's more like bars than cake.
