Tonight was the start of the annual Greater Rolfe Days. Tonight was a meal and the water fights both sponsored by the firemen. The first picture is Bill running the pumper truck. He also grilled the hot dogs. I helped serve and made a pan of choc. chip bars for it.
There are 2 teams of 3 usually or sometimes 2. Both teams have a fire hose and the goal is to shoot water at an empty beer keg on a cable and get it to the other side before the other team does. Some Pocahontas firemen showed up to go against our firemen but think they lost every time. The 2 guys in black are from Pocahontas. They were going against our chief and his son.
This is the thing they're aiming at (silver).
Had a good turnout. They had 72 kids do the water fights - the most ever. The 4th picture was taken almost at the end after many had gone home.
The meal was maidrites (an Iowa thing kind of like sloppy joes) or grilled hot dogs, baked beans, chips, and a bar.
It was a hot day so the cold water, iced tea, & lemonade was popular.
The parade is tomorrow morning, farmers' market also serving breakfast of warm, homemade donut holes, cinnamon & caramel rolls and egg 'n a hole. Then salad lunch by the VFW, and rodeo tomorrow night.
