Bill the Carpenter - New Shelves!

Bill is already making the shelves for our storage rooms to put the totes of Christmas decorations, coolers and other stuff on! I know someone in Carmel whose basement flooded right after they moved into their brand new home so we wanted to get stuff off the floor. But we do have several drains in the basement so shouldn't have to worry. Nice to have a husband that can do these things - and he's fast too!

You know the "old house pantry" that I blogged about on 1/21? He's got an easy way to make some shelves for my new basement "overflow pantry".
Per Carl's suggestion yesterday, we're putting that in our all concrete storm shelter room (which is under our porch). That way bottled water, food, etc. will be in there already in case of emergency and will be rotated.

We covered our window screens with plastic for the painters (bottom picture). This week they'll be taking the windows apart to stain them and will put in the screens to keep the cold out.

Had a blog comment/ question - what will the front door look like? It's going to be burgundy on the outside with an oval pretty glass with a burgundy framed full glass storm door. It'll be faux wood grained by Kay, one of the painters, on the inside.

Visitors

Two of the crews had trailers parked here while they were working. Mark had his here a long time and the drywall crew had one here. This van is the equivalent for the painters. Their van is staying here while they're working with the stuff they need in it.

They're making lots of progress every day and didn't find any more bubbles!!!

Gave a tour to Pam & Carl today. They help Bill & Tim farm in the spring & fall. (they're actually standing in my basement craft room which was painted today and is done) Also showed a neighbor around a few minutes ago.

We could be outside without coats today and have some windows open. I took advantage of that since it's supposed to rain all weekend and get cold again. I washed the dirt off the Pilot inside and out and went for a walk along with lots of cleaning while it was sunny. I'm about done cleaning this house!

Things are happening!

Mark came yesterday and put shingles back where they had blown off.

The painters got here at about noon yesterday and immediately got to work. Kind of nice to have a crew of mostly women here! Can you see the one guy up on the ladder? They're in white and they're spraying & rolling white primer!

George installing a necessity for a crew of women! He's putting this in the basement bath. They knew they could use ours but our bathroom is upstairs and they didn't want to intrude that much.

Yesterday Greg ordered our cabinet hardware (knobs). The plumber is coming in any time for us to go over the faucets and shower heads we want. The glass for the master bath was ordered yesterday.

The other news is that it's sunny, 50 degrees so far and not windy today!

We have gutters - just in time for Spring!

The gutters were done all in one day on Monday. Yesterday we had wind gusts up to 39 mph so we had some ridge shingles blow off. Mark is going to fix those tomorrow.

Our painters were supposed to be here today by 10:00. Not here yet. More waiting.

Bill is hauling corn again today, and I have a Stampin' Up! workshop tonight.

Last night's grocery Annual Shareholders' Meeting was a disappointment. Only one shareholder came along with 2 wives of board members and one employee!! Guess people here really don't care if we have a grocery or not.

Drywall is DONE!!!

This was yesterday. Light texture was sprayed on the ceilings and walls. Then some clean up (guys on stilts).

They're loading their trailer to leave!!! Now that they're gone, we can see to the east from our kitchen window again.

Bill & Terry talking. Terry says he hopes he never sees us again (meaning no problems!) and we couldn't agree more!

Our doors & trim were delivered this morning. The doors look nice.

Cabinets are here!

This was a welcome site this morning - the semi with cabinets and Greg & 2 others showed up at 7:00! They were unloaded into the garage. Also encouraging - the gutter guys are here although they've been just sitting in their truck with it running for quite a while now! Bill came back home and talked to them about where they're planning to put downspouts so we're all on the same page on that.

Terry and the rest of the drywall crew showed up next. We haven't talked to them yet - we just hope they're done and out of here today! They're supposed to be spraying the texture on the ceiling and walls to finish up. Rumor is that the painters, who are heavily scheduled, can start tomorrow. This looks like finally a promising week of activity again but we'll believe it when we see it!

Bill is hauling corn while the roads are still frozen and not mushy and I'm getting ready for another Stampin' Up! workshop on Wed. Had a good one yesterday - will post pictures another day.
